I'm a beginner in PD, and I've used it a bit on Mac OS 10.6, and it was ok. But since I've updated to Mac OS 10.8 there's the audio. Is there something I can do to use PD on Mac OS 10.8?

Hey Panta, I am experiencing the same thing. I will look for information and reply here if I find anything. Please reply if you find info first.

embarrassing answer...
it appears that pd does work fine on os x 10.8. the problem appears to be with the preferences. each time pd launches it sets the output audio to the wrong channel.
go to the preferences and set it to the correct audio channel and everything works

Me and my friend also have problems with PD on 10.8 (10.8.5 to be exact). We cannot start any patch or do anything when PD is running? We tried to remove the p-list file in preferences and also the saved application state and different versions of PD (including PD vanilla).
Any idea on possible solutions?

I'm mathoglu's friend.. The problem has now changed (strangely enough for both of us). We can now start PD but it freezes when we try to change audio output (it is automatically set to AirPlay). Also, there seems to be a problem with bangs. They get stuck. Any bng object that is triggered stays black and won't throughput bangs more than the first time.
These problems started after upgrading to OSX 10.8.

So it seems we have found the source of the problem and a temporary solution. Pure Data behaves strangely or crashes because of the ability in OSX 10.8 to use AirPlay as main out. This is automatically selected on Pd startup.
The solution is easy: when starting Pd, switch off your wifi. After Pd is started, you may switch it on again.
