I have installed PD on my pc recently, but object counter coudn't create when i type counter in the object, it dosen't work like this ;

Anyone know what's wrong ?

just use this construction:

(by the way, the reason why counter doesn't work for you is because it is in external object, and you either don't have it installed, or you haven't set the path for pd to find it)

in preferences, in the menu bar.

byt really, you don't want to use [counter] .. it's got bugs

i don't understand well what you say........
what dose the external object means?
counter, am3amp~, oggi and etc, many things do not work.....
i almoste give up

if you download the basic pd from miller's site ( http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/software.html ) you will only get the basic pd objects.

but many people have written new objects to use in pd, and they are called externals.

basically, because you are new to pd. don't worry about what objects do not work. there are still lots of objects which do work. learn how to use them first.

i installed Pd-extended-test5 not from miller's site
maybe bugs...

you can't download pd extended from miller's site, because miller just looks after the core of pd. "extended" = core pd + external objects made by other people. some of these will not work on all systems.
