hi...
i have made a patch in PD-extended, in short, a basic sequencer, and I have been able to send midi from it, using the built-in IAC drivers, to NI FM8. What I am trying to do now is to use PD, FM8 and Ableton Live 7 so as to be able to record these sequences. I think I am doing everything right, yet I get no sound from Ableton. In as few words as possible, I open Ableton, I load FM8, as a vst, into a midi track, I choose IAC driver (Bus 1) in the MIDI from option and Audio to Master. Then I open my PD patch, choose IAC drivers, and I turn it on. It looks like ableton is getting signal or some information but there is no sound, even If I double click on the track clip to start recording. I get nothing. Also, the FM8 vst looks unresponsive to the PD patch.
I am on an iBook G4, 1.33 Ghz PPC MacOSX 10.4.11 so I am trying to have as few apps on as possible. I have red about Jack but I don't want, if possible, to "get it in the way". I am also new both in PD and in Ableton.
So if you have any ideas it would be helpful!
thanx

(just information - in case you didn't know)
It doesn't answer your question, but if money is not a concern (lol), Ableton 8 and higher integrate Max (it's called Max4live). Personnally I work on linux and Pd, but I use to 'port' many patches to Max4live for some friends, it's rather easy (but also boring) and works flawlessly.

I haven't tried sending MIDI to Live from Pd, so I don't exactly have a solution. But you should know that Jack won't get in the way. In fact, it will improve performance.
