Hi,
I would ask if it's possible to run a PD patch without X (on linux), with an ncurses gui.
For use it on very old computers, the idea is to use an old pc like hardware sampler or synth.
Thanks
Old pc like real hardware synth or sampler ?

I've run PD under X (startx launches PD only, no window manager) and that's nice. What is the advantage to ncurses? I don't think that running the X server results in much overhead.
Also, very old computers, in the US at least, are worth about $-10, and most single core ~3GHz PCs are worth about $20. Folks will try to sell them for more because they don't know the rules of the new techno economy.
This economy is unsustainable.

yes, you are right X without a wmanager icons and graphics effect it's very fast...i said ncurses for emulate the old hardware lcd but....in fact i didn't found anything about...i've a midiCC board, i've only to solder pots and buttons and an old notebook, the idea is transform it in a sampler or synth and control it by the knob and buttuns, i like much more the hardware than the pc....but better would be buy a real old style sampler .
