I just started to use pd some weeks ago - kind of noob of these program.
My problem is this:
i have something like this:

touchosc (on ipodtouch)

pure data -> output: midiyorke1
fruity loops <- input: midiyorke1

And in this sense, it works. I setted up fruity to the controllers of the pure data layour mix16.
Ok. Now i wanted the pure data to receive the midi controllers inputs from fruity loops and then send them back to touchosc - so i can see, for example, on the ipodtouch the volume levels setted up in fruity.
I modified the mix16-layout in pure data in order to send back the inputs to touchosc - is some messy but it works (in attachment).
Then i setted up in pd the input as midiyorke2 and in fruity the midi output as midiyorke2, but it doesn't work. With midi-ox i see that fruity is sending input about the master sync (start, tempo, etc), but not the controller inputs. Also, pd doesn't seem to receive anything.
Did i do something wrong in the pd layout? Or is fruity loops?

You have to add a Midi Out generator in Fruity Loops, otherwise nothing will be sent.
So it will be:

PD midi out ->Midi Yoke 1 -> FL midi in -> Instrument/generator -> FL Link -> MIDI Out Generator -> midi Yoke 2 -> PD midi in -> (midi to OSC conversion) -> OSC out -> Touch osc

I've tried to do this type of complex midi routing in the past...
A midi feedback system like the one you want is tough to set up, because it's FL that introduces many points of failure in it's limited midi routing. Also you'll start to hit the midi latency problem (messages will be delayed throught the chain).

I suggest you take a slightly different approach. In short, use a top/down waterfall system than a circular system.

Put PD in charge of receiving midi from the hardware controller, and sending that data to FL and to touch OSC at the same time. Then FL only has to receive one midi stream and respond to that. I know that Touch OSC isn't getting feedback from FL directly, but if you want feedback from the controller and not from something generated by FL, just have PD do that work for you.

i&#180;ve had the exact same idea.
i have touch osc on my ipod and an akai lpd8.
now when i set up pd to manage both the ipod and the lpd i cancontrol f.e. the mixer with the knobs of the lpd and it is showing the altered value on the ipod and inside fl studio 10.
but somehow i cant get rid of the delay. when linked to fl studio via puredata, the response of the pads and knobs is horrible...
it is hard to tell. but it seems like the lag would happen on the way from pd to fl studio...

i use windows xp, m-audio fast track pro and maple midi and tried several settings.
i am not shure if the soundcard is setup perfectly, but using the lpd/keyboard directly in fl studio i can&#180;t find any lags.
also i am totally new to pd and just messed around until i got what i wanned.

is it that puredata produces big lags, is my setup just bad, or am i just using the wrong settings?

please tell me i can mod my lpd in puredata and sent it&#180;s input to fl studio without delays!
it would be ÜBERawesome!

@storie It's a matter of tweaking your settings.
If your PD patch is not producing sound, go under Media -> Audio Settings and lower the 'delay(msec)' setting to 1 and turn the DSP off on PureData (uncheck 'compute audio') That should help the 'midi lag' to FL Studio

Also make sure that your maple midi cables aren't adding any latency too, you can try try Midi yoke as an alternative.
