How can I open a patch/subpatch/abstraction window with a bang?
Just FYI: I am using TouchOSC on Android and sending commands to my Pure Data patch. What if during the performance I want to open the patch containing all the buttons and sliders with a bang? Is it possible?

or can I load a graph the same way? I remember when using Win (now I switched to linux) that the wintablet external did open a graph with x-y coordinates with a bang... That would be helpful as well...

i have the same problem. i had to break down a huge gui into abstractions with smaller portions to save cpu. the problem with the vis-message is that it produces a very audible glitch whenever i open or close an abstraction. just clicking on the abstraction object does the same.
is there any way to open a subpatch glitch-free, so i can actually do it during performance?
the only solution i could come up with is opening all subpatches beforehand and minimizing/maximizing them during performance. but that makes things quite messi.
any suggestions are appreciated!

At this point all solutions would require you to separate the gui from your core sound generating patch.

1. You could run another instance of pd with the DSP engine off and use that for the gui, sending commands over netsend/netreceive or OSC.

2. You could create the gui in some other program or language entirely, like Processing, Python, Flash, etc and communicate to your core patch with OSC

3. Use a touch based gui like TouchOSC or MRMR that communicates with the patch via OSC

4. Use a hardware solution. A midi control surface, or custom DIY USB device that does the work of the gui.

5. combination of all of the above!

i already suspected, that the dsp interference when opening a subpatch has to do with how pd internally handles gui objects, and that there's no user friendly solution to this. i am actually using touch osc for the patch, but i can't squeeze every single parameter on my ipad. also i wanted to leave the option open to control it only with the pd-gui, so everyone can use it. i guess for now i'll just have to try to make smart choices about how to split up the parameter guis, and hope for a fix in some later pd version.
