Hello People.

I have made an interactive piece using both pure data for sound generation and Processing for visuals that communicate using OSC.

I was wondering how it would be possible to export this as a stand alone application so that it could be opened on a computer without having to install both PD and Processing and load them both separately. I know that Processing can do this, but dont know how to export them both in a single app.

afaik, it's not possible to make a standalone app from a pd patch. you will have to install pd before.

mhh, i don't know, if itis possible to built a portable pd version, this could be solution... but i don't know!?

you should look into libpd : http://gitorious.org/pdlib/

it's basically what toxonic mentionned - a portable pd version. It makes it possible to embed pd in many languages...

Raul Diaz Poblete (http://rauldiazpoblete.com/) made something similar to what you are doing (pd+processing via OSC)
(look in his projects/interactive/Sound Radar, for example).
If I'm not wrong he packed up a vanilla pd distribution + OSC externals and processing sketch into a distributable archive
(but I'm pretty sure you can't provide a "standalone" - i.e. executable - out of it).

That's not true.You don't need libpd, or C. You can package your patches and sketch together with puredata (and processing).
You an compile a custom version or just use the official one. That's basically depends what is your OS. I did something like did for my project, gemQ.info. Gnu/linux debian based system have been the most simple system in that sense for me.

Husk, what do you mean by compile and package both patches? does this mean you can use them both in conjunction in a stand-alone app without having to install pure data and processing?

also looking into libpd as this looks as though it should work. I'm finding it tricky understanding all of it though! I am a bit of a newbie when it comes to this whole thing, haha.
