I've been having strange issue, and I now think it's because the metro bang/tick is becoming audible.

Does anyone have any suggestions for removing this artefact?

I attach my patch, but it's a work-in-progress (no abstractions or subpatches yet), so please excuse the mess.

I couldn't get sound out of this, but I don't have much experience with GEM so I could just be overlooking something. But from just looking at it, I think the problem could be in the panning section. Each tick is causing the volume on both speakers to change instantaneously, and sudden changes in volume will cause clicks. You can fix this by making a ramp with [line~]. Just stick something like this before the left inlet of the [*~]s:
