I'm trying several different ways, but there are problems. I tried "Scope~" but the resolution is not good enough. Things look blocky at ~20Hz frequencies, nevermind higher frequencies. I tried ScopeXYZ~ in GEM, with a sawtooth wave for the x-coordinate and a sine wave for the y-coordinate, but it's flickering too much and there's no simple way to have a triggering mechanism. (I was thinking about just using a table with tabsend~, but I don't know how I'd get it to refresh fast enough or to select only the 64 points after the signal crosses the trigger level.)

If you can think of a good, free oscilloscope program, let me know. I'm choosing pd since it seems like a basic enough thing for someone to have created it.

You can bang a [tabwrite~] and fill an array with the signal. Just change the array size to adjust the resolution.

I attached a patch that attempts to try and keep the zero-crossing at the edge like the [scope~] object does. It only kind of works. I thought using [edge~] with [block~ 1] might work, since [edge~] outputs a bang at the end of the block, but I think it must have a hard limit because it didn't work. So basically, this scope more or less works with frequencies below 600 (but with some jitter). Anything above doesn't sit still at all. But you still might find it useful.

if i understood it right, the blocksize has to be a power of 2, so i think it's not possible to set the blocksize to 1 sample.

2^0 = 1, so technically it is a power of two. Anyway, I tried with other block sizes and it didn't make a difference. I suppose it could also be something with Pd's scheduler. As for [edge~], since it's based on a Max object, you can get help on it on Cycling74's site:

Why does scope~ not work at all? I just downloaded the library, tried all the example patches and they simply don't do a thing. What am I doing wrong?

It's working fine here on Pd-extended 0.42 and 0.43 on OSX.
