I'm a Pd novice seeking some advice on how I could hook my axiom 25 midi controller to a simple synth patch and...play it? Maybe even some tips on how I could use it with a 16 step drum sequencer?
What are your thoughts?

here's a patch which should follow the rotation of the knobs on the axiom 25. Should give you a good idea of where to start. If you're using linux, I recommend routing midi through jack at root level.

the drum pads are note info, rather than ctl info, so you'll want to use [notein] rather than [ctlin].

search the forums for hardoff's (with obi's) diy drum synths and wire those up to the drum pad, if you want some nice synth drum sounds. Hardoff also made a great sequence for his Juno softsynth. Basically just search and borrow, and make sure to leave attribution to the code where you can.
