I'm about to spend some $$ on an audio interface, and I want one that PD will work with. Does anyone here use PD with digi002 (or 01)? how about motu828 or 896? any other interfaces that I should think about?

Digidesign, MotU... Any luck?

i haven't tested one with Pd yet because i don't have my own, but i've used the m-audio firewire interfaces for other stuff and haven't had any problems. anyone know if these work with Pd? i'm thinking of getting one eventually. for now i have put buying equipment on hold until i move back to the states next summer. doesn't make much sense to accumulate a bunch of stuff and have to ship it or sell it.

I've got an 828 and it works great. Your really shouldn't have any problems with any interface which has system drivers - and as far as I know the digi ones are the only ones that might not.

is that the old 828 or the MKII?

this weekend i'll be hooking my system up to a motu 828 mkII. i'll try to do some latency tests and see how the 828 works out.

How'd it go?

the motu828mk2 worked really well. i didn't do too much as far is in-out latency, most of what i did was just generating audio or processing recorded audio. the 828 outputted sound to a genelec 5.1 surround system and i was pretty pleased with the results (i used the vbapan~ extern--there was a post about that extern a few months ago on this forum). the one problem i encounted was that i had to connect the motu to my HP notebook with a 6pin to 4pin firewire adaptor and the adaptor was a little 'slippery'. if i bumped the firewire cable, the adaptor would pull out and i would have to restart Pd (and sometimes my whole system.) that was a little nerve-wracking when it came to our peformance. btw....if you want to see the hardware and software involved in this performance, the following link is a schematic diagram of our set up:
