Hi, I am extremely new in this. I downloaded the pd 0.37.4 from hans, the one that just installs a pd icon inside applications. Apparently pd runs fine. Now I need Gem. I downloaded the one for G5, i think binary and doc. I have been trying to see what the next step is and I don't know. It says gem (directory? file? ) must be inside pd/extra, but I don't even have a pd directory, just the icon. I have the whold folder gem inside applications as well. I have tried to put pd -lib gem on the shell when pd starts... It doesn't seem to work, I don't get any messages.
Could someone point to me the right direction?
Thanks....

Help with running gem in osx
-
do a search of your hard disk for "extra"
unless your installation went wrong, that folder MUST be there somewhere. -
actually, i just checked, and i'm still using 0.37.0
reading about 0.37.4 and re-reading your post....maybe it is more liek the standalone installer that has been released as 0.38
in that case, you have to ctrl click (right click) on the pd icon, click "show package contents" , open the contents folder, then resources...and in there you will find the extra folder
well, that's how it works with 0.38, but i have had NO luck in getting gem to load up using that build. ...works fine in 0.37.0 though
good luck
