Does some know how to make use of pictures for instance a fish, a personon on a bicycle or what so ever without the frame or the whole paper sheet

my aim is to render them as particles running over the GEMWIN just as a fish a person and not as a sphere or a cube etc

I have heard about using the alpha..... and what after the alpha and but what kind of background in the GEMWIND?

the easy way is to use [alpha] in your gem chain with tiff images containing an alpha channel.
you will also find help in /exemples/gem/04.pix/15.pix_alpha.pd

Hi, would you be able to upload the patch somewhere so I can have a look?

I've been trying to do a similar thing and can texture map the image onto the particles fine, but i'm having trouble making the particles themselves transparent.

to take the fish example mentioned above, i can make particles which have the fish shape textured onto them, but when one particle passes over another it still has an opaque square frame around it rather than being 'masked'.

never mind, think i've sorted it. although in a slightly weird way

proposal
1; draw white on black
2;use the GEM
3;introduce the object alpha with it's bang somewhere below the gemhead and over the particles 'sphere' or 'cube' or whatever geometric object

create your screen and make the particle move and than bang on the alpha
can have phantastic effects

I'm having troubles with the alpha channel as well. It seems like it doesn't work properly when alpha is attached to moving particles. In my experience only a small numer of the particles shows the correct transparency, everything else is a total mess of ugly squares. Is this a bug? Does anybody have a patch to look at?
