hey!

i've got a problem: everytime i open subpatches, their window size always grows a little bit. and if you don't always resize it everytime you open it (and you often forget to, apart from it is really annoying) it can become so big that the corner down-right, where you can resize it is out of reach of my desktop.
what can i do about it?

it's a flaw in tk/tcl (or whatever that thing is called that runs pd's gui)

miller said he adjusted it a while ago, but it is still dodgy for me too.

as a general rule i always try to keep my windows less than 3/4 of the screen size, so that when they do creep up too big i can resize then before the bottom corner disappears.

pd has a couple of flaws like this. they're annoying, but you learn to live with them.

the other terrible one is how 'properties' boxes will open further and further down the page until all the properties have completely disappeared off the bottom of the screen.

also, after resizing or moving a wind0w, it's a good idea to create a blank object in that window and then delete it again before saving. otherwise, the resize/move will not be registered by pd.

To avoid the creeping properties box always build your patches downwards. If you need to insert things on top then do CTRL-A and drag everything down to make space up top and never just prepend new objects above 0,0 (although TCL window will let you do this).

A good hack to fix this would be "recenter patch" that makes the top lefthand corner of the highest and leftmost object go to 0,0 .... unfortunately I can write what I know about tcl on the back of a bus ticket.
