Basic question. I want to take incoming stereo input in a patch and then convert this into one mono signal.

For example, I have a stereo sound file that is being played. I want to 'mix down' the L and R signals of this audio so it is a single signal.

I imagine there's a simple solution to this but I'm drawing a blank on how to do it.

Duh, I'm presuming [+~] is exactly what I'm looking for

There is no generic solution, it depends on the stereo signal. If you sum together the signals, that can produce artifacts (like filtering due to phase opposition between the two channels for example).
