GUI unresponsive problem with MacOSX PD-Extended 0.42.5
Hello everyone....
Sorry if this issue has been answered before! I have searched this forum and the mailing lists but my search terms may not have been specific enough.
I am having issues with my version of PD extended 0.42.5 on macosx 10.6.8. After running for a little while( I know this is not very scientific but it varies from round 10mins and upwards...) the gui becomes unresponsive. I cannot close a patch, I cannot open new patches, I cannot save and any gui elements inside the patch stop updating and become unresponsive. I have to 'force quit' the pd application and start again. The funny thing is that the patches still work. They compute audio and produce sound and interact with TUIO messages etc etc...
Any ideas where to look or if this is a known issue? I thought it may have something to do with the TUIO_PureData library...? I will start to isolate libraries and see if this may be the issue.
Anyway, thanks for this great forum!
PD, TouchOSC, Traktor, lots of problems =\[
Hey everyone, ive been searching and searching forums day and night, trying to get rid of all my issues,
Its down to these 2.
If ANYONE could help me a little bit i would greatly appreciate it
Problem 1:
Using the TouchOSC PD patch gen, ( with both boxes checked )
Ill make a custom layout, use the patch gen to create a patch for PD, Open traktor try and map things, its a very simple layout, just to control decks 3 and 4.
Issue im having is no matter what i try, certin buttons i create are being assigned the same midi CC message, i thought at first this was because i was copying and pasting buttons, so i re did the layout with all new buttons, still getting the same issue.
so no matter what i do or try, my cue or cp 1 or sync will get midi cc 38 lets say,
its EXTREMLY fustrating. i have a windows laptop right now because i cant afford a mac yet. but i have an ipad =] and i want to use it.
Issue 2.
Midi feedback
so if i were to say, use a slider for the filter on traktor. and i crank it up, and then hit the " reset " button, is there a way to make the slider i just used to controlt he filter, snap back.
i know all of this stuff is possible but im new to PD, ive learned a bunch but i cannot get my head around any of this to the pint where im deperate for any kind of help there is little information about PD and touchosc it seems. =/
Setup,
Traktor Pro S4 ( does the same on traktor pro )
Windows 7 32 bit
3 gigs ram
1.6 C2D
TouchOSC
Pure Data
Midi OX
any more info you need please let me know ill attach whatever anyone needs.
Audio glitch with portaudio in PD
Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with audio output in PD : when setting audio to output via portaudio, all the audio that gets out of PD has audio glitch in it, some kind of random-spaced crackles or clicks. It is completly useless as such. Increasing the delay in PD's audio settings doesn't change a thing.
However, using Jack as an audio outlet supresses all this problem, and the audio is clean that way.
Would anyone know the reason for this? I would be glad to know it as there may be a link with another issue about audio on my hardware : system audio of mac os X has the same kind of glitches that I got with PD on portaudio, only it's only occasional glitches so it's bearable. Solving this issue would be a big relief to me.
My hardware is a hackintosh (pc with osX installed on it), and mbox2 as audio interface (but I have tested with an m-audio transit and I have the same crackling issue). My soft is osX Snow Leopard 10.6.5.
Any help appreciated!
TuioClient (reacTIVision) on 64 bit Linux system?
Hello,
Using Pure Data on a 64 bit Ubuntu Studio (Lucid, 10.4) system, I am trying to get Pd connected to reacTIVision (http://reactivision.sourceforge.net/). I compiled reacTIVision because it was not available for 64 bit. It works fine, outputs right number, etc.
However, the TuioClient for Pd that comes with reacTIVision will not load:
/home/menno/Programs/TUIO_PureData/TuioClient.pd_linux: /home/menno/Programs/TUIO_PureData/TuioClient.pd_linux: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
Any ideas? It all works in Windows 7, but I have trouble with ASIO drivers,
jack is just so much better. Are there other programs that will allow me a similar (and equally easy) TUI like reacTIVision does with the shapes? And will work on 64bit system...
Thanks! Menno.
Nu B ?s -Prefs in os x, presets
Hi List,
I'm new to PD, GEM and computer video but am familiar with midi in max. I have a few questions. PD and gem seem like truly wonderfull and amazing tools but I need to get my bearings.
Is there any way to start up PD so it knows my audio and midi prefs - so I dont have to reset this if it crashes (I'm using the wish&tc&tk shell installation)? Maybe something in the terminal when I run it? Is there some preference file for the mac components I can tweak?
So what's the best strategy for dealing with presets in patches as there is no preset object? I noticed that there is no preset module like in MAX. I read the "differeces from max/msp" section but am still unclear. Do I need to make lots of message boxes and click all of them?
Is there any Show/hide for cables?
Is this the best place on the web to hang out and ask questions to learn about PD and GEM?
Also is there any place I can see where inlets and outlets go to or what signal they want?
Thanks a lot in advance.
