@ben.wes yes :( it does not slow, just complete freeze, i have to close the program.

before replying i made a test gem patch from scratch, basically just the declare, gemwin and create,1 message. same problem.

every gem patch performs the same unfortunately. oddly enough it's the patch itself that becomes unresponsive (i can't click or edit anything, can't change "radio" channels, etc.) but the main pd window is usable to the extent that i can continue to turn DSP on or off. However, I can't open preferences.

just tried latest build (added 5/5) @ben.wes

SHA256 issue is resolved, but still can not use gemwin and DSP at the same time. whichever order i try, pd freezes.

I don't think time machine can roll back updates. I did check the issues github and am at least reassured other have had similar problems recently. I already tried downloading the older build but this didn't work. In fact this is the build that crashes PD immediately upon opening a patch. As far as compiling it myself, as the Git thread mentions, I am not exactly sure how I would go about this.

    A couple things:

    1. I experimented with order of operations: I can edit and even create a gem window if DSP is off. But I can't do both. DSP and gemwin together simply freeze everything.

    2. The extension Gem.d_fat is being treated as either unsafe or unrecognized and I can not proceed without moving the extension to trash. Of course without it, seems like Gem doesn't work at all.

At this point, I'm looking for options other than GEM. If there is any more insight it's much appreciated!

I forgot to mention I keep getting this message when I reinstall:

    "Unable to fetch reference SHA256"

After my latest reinstall attempt, when i open patches most of my Gem objects are missing. Assuming it's related to the above error.

Hi all, new to the forum, and pd user for about 2 years.

GEM is a big part of my synthesis toolkit, and it suddenly started freezing up. Specifically, it happens when I try to open a gemwin or engage DSP.

I'm on a Mac (Sequoia 15.7.5) , and I know about the OpenGl deprecation, but am curious why I'm only having problems now.

I thought updating my system, updating pd, or reinstalling GEM would work, but nothing. In fact, the current version of GEM in the external library crashes my pd entirely.

Is anyone else having issues? Any advice?
