    Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good way to use either a table or an array to control the playback of some audio. My patch uses FFT to analyze a soundfile, and then uses RIFFT to take that info and resynthesize it back into audio. What I would like to do is use an array or a table with set values to essentially make a super fine filter that covers an handful of scattered freq values. So for example, I may play the sound of a dog barking into the patch-- for my output I would like to be able to control which freq bands pass as output (preferably by selecting specific bins). I have been having a lot of trouble figuring out how this may look, and would love any advice anyone may have! Screen Shot 2018-10-02 at 8.59.27 PM.png

    Hi All,

I am reaching out to the community because I am working on a new project and am having some trouble with my PD patch. Basically I am trying to use fft to rfft so that I can control which bins sound in my output. I have attached two screenshots, one of which is the current state of my patch. The other is an object I created (not sure if that is the right term. If anyone who is familiar with FFT could look over these I would be forever grateful.

    Things I need help with:
1.Getting an outside audio file run through the patch

    1. Figuring out how to set which bins sound through the output
    2. Finding a prettier/easier way of bin selection, someone suggested I use the PFFT function but I'm not familiar.

Thank you ahead of time for any help.

Working on a patch that is receiving midi, I essentially just need it to ignore anytime it receives a "0" i.e., no bang on zero. Thank you!!!!

@whale-av last question i promise! if i have my 10 audio files ready to go as .wav files, do i need to create a folder within the patch or do i simply make a folder on my desktop and somehow link the patch to it? essentially, where is the folder i put the audio in and if it doesn't exist, how do i create it? thank you so much @whale-av your help is greatly appreciated

@weightless i'm sorry, im still lost. i guess my question now is how are all the things youve listed all connected? what patch should i begin with? do i need my own patch? essentially by the end i would like to create a list of 1-10 and assign an audio track to each number so that every time the bng is triggered it selects a number 1-10 (which will have an associated sound) and then if the bng is triggered again, another number 1-10 which will cue another sound. what i like about your abstraction is that it wont keep playing the same tracks over and over again, and will only repeat once all the numbers have been cycled through. i guess im just confused how everything fits together. I can create a [urand.list] object but i dont really know what it is or how to use it. im sorry you ended up trying to help a total beginner :/

@weightless I download urand, it looks like i should be able to figure this out. I figured out where i should specify my values, but I am having a hard time figuring out where i should put my numbers box and which bng i should use to trigger it.

Hi, I am complete beginner using Pure Data and I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me answer a couple questions? I am currently running a patch by alexdrymonitis called "vanillaurn" it is a randomizer that doesn't repeat numbers until all of the numbers have been cycled through. I was just wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to get it running. I have it open in PD but I can figure out where I need to enter my values and how to use a bng command to make it begin cycling through. Thank you in advance.
