PD newbie. I basically want to be able to route with a toggle so that with
toggle off - inlet~ to outlet~.
toggle on inlet~ to pd effect.

For data I would usually use (sel 0 1) but this is audio signal so I cant use it.
and (spigot~) would only allow me to switch the audio signal off I still want the audio signal to flow from inlet~ to outlet~ even when toggles off.

I thought that [spigot~] actually does have two outlets (unlike [spigot], which only has one).

If it still doesn't work for you, try [demultiplex~]

or [polygate~] which has fade time (no clicks) and lin/log included!

A powered pan abstraction would cover that well for modulation. You would want to use 2 throw~s & catch~s. a powered pan is just using the curve of a sine wave on the volume rather than a straight line. You could use two osc~ or tabread~ fade your signals via multiplication.

edit: use switch~ on your signals when you don't need them to be running
