I can't get my head around installing pdflite or ratts so now I'm looking for other alternatives. Text-to-speech in pd, let's go!
-
Text-to-speech?
-
festival maybe? It's a CLI TTS for linux.
any technology distinguishable from magic
is insufficiently advanced. -
Couldn't get my head around that one either. I found something called mbrola in pd that just makes it crash, and i suspect it's just speech synthesis and not TTS. I just want an easy to install something to put in my patch to make it speak. I guess I'll give up
-
i tried to find something before too, but RATTS neve worked for me either. For sure it's possible to do text to speech in pd....but just no-one has done a simple implementation yet.
I really think pd needs to hook up with something like kickstarter to get funds for people to do projects like this...

What about [flite] from moocow?
-
alexandros, I believe he already mentions that one in his first email.
BUT is there any way to interact with OSX own tts engine from within PD ? no? why not D: ?
yes?
thanks
-
I confirm that you under OSX you can make the system's own TTS talk by sending a [say blablabla] message to the [shell] object
cheers

Hello!
I wanted to try TTS with pure data and found this thread but I use Windows so the above solution isn't working and all the download links for RATTS or FLITE seems to be dead. If someone has the original files somewhere on its computer and read this, could you please post them?
Many thanks!
