Hi, i'm new in pure data. I take samples with:

adc~

| /start
| /
| //stop
|/
tabwrite~ tab1

where tab1's size is 200000. It samples 4 secords aprox.
I do next:

-I press start and I take a 4 seconds sample

-I press start and take a 2 seconds sample and press stop.

-Now, when i use tabplay~ to play tab1 i can hear the second sample (ok) and the last 2 seconds of the first sample (oh, noo!!!)

The question is:

How i can do pd stop when the sample lastly recorded is played.

you can send the start and stop to the 2 inlets of |timer| take the result and multiply it with |samplerate| and use this as the multiplicator for a |phasor 1|
not that easy to understand from only words :/

There are a couple of approaches to this:

1. you create a long enough table which can record the max length you want. Next you time the duration of the recording (you can use [timer] for this). From this duration (in combination with the samplerate) you can create a message for the [tabplay~] object to play (setting the start and end sample positions). If you want to play with pitch / playbackrate it's worth looking at a [tabread4~] which you can drive with a [phasor~] object. Plenty of examples on this forum. This approach allows for easy manipulation of the recorded material.

2. you could also go for the delay based option. The objects usually used for this are [delwrite~] (this sets up a delay line into which you can record an audio stream) and [vd~] which repeats the contents of that delayline at a specified interval. This approach is nice when you want to do overdubs.

Do some searching on the forum because there are many examples of both methods - and probably of some others i can't think of right now.

a really quick and dirty approach is just to send a constant zero to clear your table before recording. for a small table like that, it probably won't even cause an audio click.
