I thought I already solved my issues with this. I plug my brand new personus usb96 to my pi and now I'm getting those error from the console:

my audio setting is as follow:

Audio is coming out completely grainy..
I don't now what can cause it? I might messed up with the audio setting of the pi itself?

The same patch with the same audio interface working just great on my laptop.
I might need to format my pi?

Now I'm also getting the following errors:

ALSA output error (snd_pcm_close): No Such device

and

ALSA output error (snd_pcm_close): Device or resource busy

@KMETE Probably that the Pi doesn't have an audio input device? (That is a guess).
Try running Pd with the -noadc flag ..... or putting -noadc in the Pd preferences startup "startup flags" box...... then press ok and restart Pd.
The 5 msec delay setting is very short..... that would not be possible in windows without using asio.
I don't know for alsa...... maybe put a high value (80) and if there is no distortion reduce that until the lowest value possible without problems.

The problem is that it can't play audio from vlc or from YouTube either. I think I messed up with some properties on the pi. I'm flashing the os again to make a fresh start. I hope it will help

In order to installed pd on pi -
Shall I type:

sudo apt install puredata

or

sudo apt-get install pd-comport

So I reinstall os on my pi. I installed pd.
Now my audio interface is not recognize by the pi.
I really feel desperate. What can it be?

@KMETE sudo apt-get install puredata

I think [comport] is an external, but maybe it is included in Linux.
If not then Deken...... Find externals from the Pd menu..... will install it.

Ok now Pi is recognized th interface but no sound is coming out from pd

When I play an audio file via the vlc media player is completely choke and with clicks. Something is way off

Ok, so I change the usb cable and it seems to solve it! I don't belevie I got a faulty cable with a brand new audio interface!

I still needed to change the pd block size from 64 to 512. Also the delay I put on 20 ms instead of 5 ms. How up I can go in the delay time? in order to make pi/audio interface less effort if you can say so

@KMETE Very bad luck...!
The delay setting only really matters if you need low latency...... for live use using a microphone or instrument.
Working at home I have mine set to 80 msecs so that I don't get any dropouts with the built-in card. I don't think you should need to go higher.
Working live with musicians..... 2 msecs using a professional soundcard and asio drivers.

Bad luck indeed. many hours of frustration I had now..

In my pd patch there is no live performance rather audio track playing based on people interacting with some sensors. In that case is better if I set delay higher than 20? maybe 100?

edit: I re-read your last post. What you are actually saying that if I don't have live use in the patch it is not matter if my delay is 5ms or 300ms(as a example)? it will not help improving pd performance (in term of cpu) ?
What actually help my patch to perform as it should is the fact I have change the block size from 64 to 512?
