Having one option (1-8) and another one (1-16) (so 128 combinations).

Would like the user to be able to select a combination (as readily as possible) using a hid controller(s) (either one or the other (or combination of the two) of a foot-(XY)-flight stick (2-d expression pedal) and keyboard (as a footswitch)).

All ideas are welcome and looking forward to the suggestions.

P.s.s. think it better not to bias you with what I have considered thus far until I get some feedback. So will hold those ideas til later.

@svanya Usually (computer world, tv etc.) done with tabs and drop down menus.....
It seems you will want to use your feet, being handicapped by your hands being tied to something, or having a bad back........ so maybe a longer press of the (?) for selection....... i.e move on "short", or select "long".....
Don't forget "exit"... (return to top menu... tabs) ....... sorry that makes another two options!...... although maybe you could have a "time out" for that?

It is for a guitar effects/pedal patch.

So the user's hands will be busy with their guitar as @Whale-AV mentions.

I think I got this worked out...

What I did was divide the circle of the flightstick into sub-quadrants/45 degree arcs.

Then said if the radius is over 1 (arbitrary but captures x=1, y=0) and the angle is between 0,45,90,135,180 (and the inverse negative values) send 1-8.

Then toggle back and forth between sending it to the first or second radio.

By adding one toggle, the sum result is first action: set radio1 (1-8); second action read the toggle, i.e. x*8+subquadrant; and third action: send the calculated subquadrant to radio2 (1-16).

This results in 128 selectable options in only 2 or 3 actions.

One thing, unusual, I did have to add was a delay to close off then reopen the hid valve so that it doesn't send too many values.

Maybe someone else will find this useful.

The 2-d flightstick, is actually a surface: a flightstick with the handle removed, the shaft cut down, and a board inserted (see below).

Has had me thinking tho...

Now that I have invested in buttons&knobs, an arduino, and a pi, the next thing I really need to buy is an orangutan or chimp to test this darn thing.
