/dev/ttyS0 has permission 777. Any ideas? Thanks.

Unfortunately I can't help any further as I've never used comport on a modern machine -- just my ancient Dell 7500 "Brick", which although slow has the advantage of being a much simpler device so there's not as much that can go wrong. If I try using comport on the box I'm on now I get a similar error related to permissions instead of termios-structure.

Perhaps it's time someone else chimed in....

Are you on Linux? I think your user should be in the dialout group. What device are you trying to communicate with?

I hope lulu_joe13 has better luck, but entering the terminal command

sudo adduser (username) dialout

on this KXStudio/Ubuntu install didn't change the error for me; same permissions denial.

The old Debian Squeeze-based AVlinux 6.04 on my legacy box never had this problem, it just worked with no permissions mods at at all. Never tried it with Ubuntu on that thing.

I remember needing to add me to the dialout group in my Debian Jessie partition..
