I hope someone can help - I feel that I'm close to getting this to work, (though I am a little out of my depth when it comes to interpretting error messages)

I used the Pure Data Patch Generator to create a pure data file for use with a simple TouchOSC layout that I made to use with Traktor (I am using Windows XP.). However when I launch the pure data file I get the following error message:

    error: [dumpOSC]: OSCx is deprecated!
Consider switching to mrpeach's [unpackOSC] and [udpreceive]
OSCroute object version 1.05 by Matt Wright. pd: jdl Win32 raf.
OSCroute Copyright ᄅ 1999 Regents of the Univ. of California. All Rights Reserved.
    error: [OSCroute]: OSCx is deprecated!
    Consider switching to mrpeach's [routeOSC]

I have seen a few other posts where people have had the same error message, but I'm a little confused by the replies. I am a newbie to this kind of stuff, and am not sure where to type commands etc. to rectify this (and at what point).

If any one could give me some basic (pref step by step) instructions on how to get this to work I'd be most grateful.

    Thanks

    Thanks Maelstorm - it works!

I have noticed that there's a slight lag from when I touch the screen on the ipad to the movement of (say) a fader on Traktor. When I move a fader on my BCD2000 midi controller there is virtually no lag (ie seems much more responsive). Is there any way to make the fader/button control more responsive between ipad/touchOSC/Puredata/Traktor so it's more like my other midi controller?

I am also attaching here a copy of the touchOSC template that I am trying to use (I have assigned midi parameters to the various buttons), in case it helps shed any more light on this.

Thanks for your replies to my post.

I did check out the manual as suggested by atarikai, and am now familiar with the basics of pure data (changing commands, etc). Unfortunately, things have not progressed too far beyond that point for me. When I first came across the TouchOSC app I thought it would be a fairly simple matter of getting it to communicate with Traktor as an additional controller (I already have a midi controller that I use, but using the ipad as well would give me more mapping flexibilty). I have many years of experience using Midi, and can sort out the most advanced midi setup no problem. However configuring things using pure data is incredibly confusing. I have spent hours and hours trying to get this to work as I had originally envisaged it would, yet the harder I try, the less it seems to work.....

I tried using Gromit's skeleton patch for XP - I changed the udpreceive 9000 command to udpreceive 8000 and that does give movement in the pd extended application readout. However under every line I get the error message

error: vsl: no method for '/fader1' (or whatever touchOSC item i press on the ipad template)
error: vsl: no method for '/toggle8' etc.

I have also tried copying various configurations from other patches that people have posted on here, but none seem to work (ie no movement in readout on pd extended application).

I am attaching a copy of the puredata patch that the patch generator created and I have then tweaked to include the mr peach objects. I have added 'mrpeach' under startup on the pd extended application. I have also included the command 'import mrpeach' in the patch. Doesn't seem to work though.

If anyone could have a look at the patch and see if there is anything that I'm obviously doing wrong I would be massively grateful.
