I had a brainstorm the other day that it would be very handy for the traveling Pd artist to be able to carry a "Portable Pd" application as well as any patches and samples on a flash drive and be able to run them live on a computer at a venue rather than to carry a computer around everywhere to run it on.

So, I attempted to make a portable Pd app using a tutorial at www.portableapps.com, but with no luck. So, the question is, has anyone tried this? Does it work? Can you think of any disadvantages to this idea? Does it even sound like a valid thought?

The one negative thought that I have is that I've been working on a Windows PC and if I were successful in this, the portable app would not work on a mac. Any thoughts or comments would be very welcome.

Shankar, Yeah, I've checked it out and it is beautiful, very well done... if your PC can boot from whichever drive you'd be using. But I also have trouble with persistence between sessions and creating a persistent USB stick or CD-R from which we can both boot and save/use files (i.e. saving changes that you make to preferences and files used).

Outside of that PureDyne is great. Now if we could only figure out the persistence issue... Anybody?
