    Hi guys,

Is it possible to run Pd-extended on Mac without the GUI? When I run

    ./Pd-extended -nogui

the Terminal outputs "tk scaling is 1.0" then it launches the gui.

Is it possible to run Pd on Mac without the gui?

I'm trying to cut down on CPU usage any way I can, heavy use of bonk~ is killing me! =\

    Mac OS X 10.5.6 , Pd 0.40.3-extended

how many gui elements were you using btw? (roughly)

Only about 2-dozen, but the frequency of their update was extremely high. I'm pushing 16 audio streams from Ableton Live through Soundflower out to Pd.

    Ah, brilliant mate!

Eliminating debug gui objects like bangs, number boxes, and check boxes did the trick! And got my CPU usage down to reasonable levels.

No joke, with the GUI objects in, my Pd-extended process was hogging 40-50% CPU on my dual-core 2.4 Ghz MacBookPro, while the actual Pd process was using 8%. Now Pd-extended is down to < 1%.

    Thanks, hardoff =)

Although I no longer have a need to run it GUI-less, it would be handy a handy option to have all the same. Instead of having to keep both debug and practical versions of each patch, the debug version could theoretically work for both.
