I don't know where to post this, so I'll put it here. The problem with installing in Ubuntu is that the installer for deb files doesn't work properly. This is for 16.4 on, and Ub Studio which I use. Using the terminal doesn't work either. Neither does Synaptic Package Manager. You have to use GDebi Package Installer. that's all. It all works then!!!!

@RolandTpd amazing how posting makes me solve it, more or less. SO I found someones' etch_a_sketch, so that you rebang the gemhead to render a new frame to draw a new point. Ok. solved 2d array - duh! Not sure about scanning a section of screen and filing it away however.

Hi there. As part of a much larger patch, I wish to make a small drawing patch, where you draw with the mouse, and a shape appears. I think to do this, I'll use a lot of curves, that use dynamically created curve patches, or is there a better way? (I've got this working more or less). Then I want to scan the drawing, which is a small area of the gem screen, and store it. I don't know how to do this simply (though you can interrogate a pixel). Then store it? - pd doesn't have 2d arrays. Or make a small jpg - someone has shown how to do that. Any help appreciated...

Looks good, Gilberto. I'd made a smaller one myself, so was keen for a larger one. On Windows, many of the connections are missing! and many objects need redrawing to make connections - weird. Anyhow, it got too hard..
rjp9 - I removed extra path specs in the abstractions so just the name appeared, and put all files in the one folder, and that sorted it.
    cheers

    Hi all,
I've built a complex music program in pd which is triggered by tracking my movements on a grid. It used to operate with a webcam, but I've moved to Kinect. I've got it all working, and for pulsing at a steady tempo it works. But when I use the other setting to so that it tracks, and pulses notes at semi-quavers, quavers etc (much faster, but quantized), it jitters really badly. (I know this is a similar prob to taming data for HID inputs in another thread).

I'm acquiring the kinect data thru processing (yes its indirect, but that 's the system I finally got working), which sends via OSC to pd. I've even tested it over my LAN, between computers. Now I made a simulator program in Processing, that just dumbly sends wandering data in the right range, to test its reception in Pd - no problem, no jittering! So I separated it over 2 computers and same problem.
CPU use looks fine. I've tried different data rates - framerates in Processing.
    I'm baffled!
    any help would be appreciated,
    cheers
