I have used MAX a little and just downloaded PD.
Why can't I get it to find and play my sound files?

-Under preferences I set the path to Users/Shared/PD/ This is where I put all the .aif files I wanted to use as well as patches.
-In the patch I tried [open Users/Shared/PD/file.aif] and [open ../file.aif] connected to the readsf~ object. Neither of those ways worked.

Whenever I try to open I get 'error: dsp: No such file or directory'
    I'm using version 0.40-2 on OSX 10.4.8

Pretty basic thing I need to get started.
    Thanks.

I don't know of a special object but you could probably set it up a sloppy way with the pack object.

The patch I attached would work as long as the object you are sending the list to can ignore the extra zeros that show up.
You could set the rate that it outputs its list using a metro attached to the bang.

I don't know anything about what's possible with PD, but I know people who have had a lot of fun using DDR pads and wii controllers with MAX.

Also is there are way to remove the spaces between items on a list from [pack]?

    ex:
    instead of print: list 1 2 3 4

    get print: list 1234

The backslash seems to work. Thanks!
