how can I can get Pd to receive Midiclock (start/stop/continue/tempo) from a sequencer (Logic on Mac in my case)?

Midi Clock into Pd from Sequencer?
-
Good question - I never got an answer for that when I asked a while back..
This, in my opinion, is where Pd needs some work to 'keep up' with other software out there. I have managed to send a sync clock from Pd to Bidule over both midi and OSC with success, although the jitter was pretty bad.
Jack OSX has the ability to send sync info (like rewire) though it is not yet supported in osx....I would love to know when this might happen???

i've never used it, but there is a [clkin] object, right?

is that just for Linux?
I'm usually on OSX but on this windows xp machine, there is no such object.

I forget, does [midiin] work okay on Win? Cos you can always look for midi clock messages
http://www.borg.com/~jglatt/tech/midispec/clock.htm
and I expect someones already an abstraction of that if you search about.
Use the Source.

my bad, sorry, i meant [midiclkin]. though like i say, i7ve never used it - i don't know what it's like. digging around for it, i realised i heard abuot it from a post of yours, boonier
edit: hmmm... it doen't seem to do anything - i created it, and connected its outlet to [print] and pressed play in ableton, but nothing got printed to the terminal. the IAC ports are set ok in pd and ableton's prefs, afaik.
obiwannabe - i don't think [midiin] works under OSX - when i create it i get "error: linux only" in the terminal.
-
yeah I couldn't get anthing from [midiclkin] either. Or [midirealtimein] - only works under windows....or [midiin] as it only works under linux!
So on osx theres a rock and theres a hard place and we're kind of stuck inbetween :0
edit: Stephen - i just tried [midiin] > [print] on OSX and got a list of numbers - midi note #, velocity and something else. Haven't worked out what the other numbers are and what the second outlet means. Haven't got clock signal yet......
but "error: linux only" is frankly a load of pap!

yeah, you're right again - sorry. [midiin] does work on OSX. but i DO get a message: "error: midiin: works under Linux only
... you might be able to track this down from the Find menu." and then it works anyway. wierd. -
I'm on Win XP at work, where I don't have my synths/sequencer etc, but on OSX at home - so will check these objects out aswell when I get home, see what happens...
