I've started to make an autowah (in the sense of "triggered by attacks"). Who knows if I will succeed I'll try to use [bonk~] and [svf~] objects.

Has anyone already crafted an autowah patch ? Can't find anything within the forum or using search engines.

maybe take an envelope follower (env~ perhaps) and have the output going into line~ which goes into the frequency inlet of vcf~ or bob~ or something

here is a simple proof of concept patch that achieves attacks detection with [bonk~] and uses a rudimental "attack, constant, release, floor" envelope.
A starting point.

Hi nau, just tested your patch with my guitar, attack detection works fine. Maybe an exponential envelope would improve the "wah" effect ?

yes. Or maybe a "dray your mapping" function also...would be fun.
Yesterday I tried the "radians" mode in [vcf~], but not quite sure I understand the help patch. I'd need to be able to start from frequency domain to set the lower frequency of the sweep and its span. but I guess the best way is to make an external mapping if I want to control the whole process.

A little late to this discussion but here's one that I created as part of my guitar effects suite. It has the option of switching between lowpass, bandpass, and highpass or a combination, plus adjustable cutoff and resonance for lots of customization!

It works by controlling the center frequency of [svf~] using the amplitude of the input signal.

Here's one that specifically addresses the issue of "driven by attacks" where [fiddle~] detects attacks, which triggers a customizable ADSR envelope which is then in turn used to control [svf~].

Well for sure the title of this topic is a bit misleading. In my humble opinion attack detection concern is easily addressed.

IMHO the real concerns lie in how the filter opens in relation to the signal's amplitude... Coloscope's exponential mapping is the right way for me, and I tried to implement some sort of omplitude selection that only listens to the upper range of the dynamics, but I'm not totally happy with it.

It's not only a matter of opening a binary gate... make this effect "musical" is a challenge. When I listen to pedal demos videos I notice, among other things, how the filter shuts with note sustain, this is not easy to implement, at least for me

Here is a kind of wah effect from my stamp album effects.
I used [env~], [> ], [change] and couple of delays for the threshold trigger, the threshold triggers a constantly running [osc~] to reset its phase at a preset position (between 0 and 1) which I have converted to 0 to 360 for control purposes this is multiplied by a frequency and an offset is added then sent to a [vcf~] centre frequency.
