I am not sure if this is a correct forum section to ask.

I have tried using MrPeach's OSC to trigger the virtual MIDI keyboard in Reaper to record MIDI on a track.

At first I thought this would get me much more precision in timing of the events than if I was sending simple MIDI from Pd. However, there is a lot of timing imprecisions in both beginning and length of the notes. I am using the loopback connection to send the data from Pd so it should be very fast and precise in theory. I have a fast CPU.

I suppose the timing in Pd itself is rock-solid and it outputs the OSC messages with correct timing. So what else could be causing this very noticeable imprecisions?

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

I don't know what could be causing your troubles, but my latest composition involves sending some MIDI from Pd to REAPER, and there were some imprecisions with it as well. I am still trying to troubleshoot it, but right now I can't see anything wrong with my patch itself, so it could be something related to REAPER or with some configuration of mine (I use Linux, REAPER is running via WINE and connected via JACK to Pd). I know that sending OSC is a complete different story, but it does sound similar to my current problem, and so far I have no ideas about how to solve either of them, sorry

messages in anykind within and outof PD are emitted max. one time per DSP block. this causes slighty noticeable jitter if the blocksize is too big. maybe [block~] with lower value in subpatch can resolve it a bit more, but i havent tested it yet.

in addition to the one time per block processing of messages, incoming and outgoing messages are delayed by on block each time they pass the borders of PD to the world
