I know this topic has been raised a number of times before, but i still can't get externals to be loaded. I've downloaded the LyonPotPourry port for Win32.

I've created a folder in the pd "extra" folder and copied all the dll's there. Then in pd (0.38.4) i've set things in the STartUp options and verified with regedit that everything was ok. This seemed to be the case.

I don't get it some seem to load (gem, pmpd, vasp, xsample objects) others don't (fftease, potpourry, pdp, pidip,...)

What's going on?

I'd do the following:

1. start pd with the -verbose option and see (in the pd console) what is the problem
   when it loads the exact external you want.. Maybe is just
   that some paths containing the same externals are searched before
   than the others..

2. for sure I compiled LyonPoutpourry and linked them against
   PD 0.39-2 extended test 4, so I'm not sure at all if they work with
   PD 0.38. I didn't received any feedback about
   their functioning on Win, so let me know if they work for you

3. go to pd 0.39 extended

For now i've just downloaded the 0.39.2.extended.RC1. I've noticed however that this release is about 24MB where the 0.38.4 was more than 56MB. How comes there such a big size difference?

Besides, I've already tried 0.39.2 on another computer and i immediatly noticed that [spigot~] wasn't working anymore. For now i can not afford that to happen, since many of my patches rely on that object.

Yep, I also noticed the difference. I remember that the
.dll object were much more larger in size (~800 Kb) for the 0.38.4 than
for the 0.39.2 (~ 100 Kb if I remember correctly..). Probably the
.dll where not "stripped" from the pd object after compilation in the 0.38 release..

Regarding spigot~: it is an object by Yves Degoyon, I downloaded it
from somewhere sometimes..
infact, in my \pd039extRC1\extra\unauthorized\
it is missing as .dll

So: check if you have the spigot~.dll in the above location of the exetended distro,
eventually copy it from the previous distribution in the RC1 unauthorized
directory. If it doesn't work we can just recompile it (maybe I can help on this...)

i've played with the -verbose option but this didn't yield any result, expect that pd looks for dll's in different places, but, although the dll's are clearly present, it nevertheless can't load them. But then, wondering why it could load gem and why i could load externals located in the unauthorized folder, i just copied the potpourry externals in that last (unauthorized) folder. Et voilà, now i can create those objects. Leaves me still contemplating about what's wrong, but not for long though

Now i've just got one more question : is there a place where i can find helpfiles for the potpourry externals?

So if you put one LyonPoutpourry .dll in the unauthorized
folder it loads otherwise not, am I right? Mmhh, strange.
It smells like windows registry mees-up. Eventually
put an alert to the PD list or go ahead with experiments
(if you put, let's say, buffet~.dll in the "extra" folder does it load?
If you create a new directory in the extra and put it there, and add it to the
path, restart pd, it loads etc. etc. .. In any case a weird behaviour.

Hello all,

I had almost the same problem and I solved deleting the registry key for PD before send the register settings again.

Run regedit
Go to Hkey_local_machine

Software

Pd

and delete it.

After this....send the register settings again.

weird problem...I tryed to install PD 3 times and the error persisted until this...
