Hi

I'm trying to work out what the best method would be to control this (one of my favourite) plugins with PD? Unfortunately, there isn't a standalone version of the plugin that I could pipe midi to.

As far as I can tell I have the following options:

1. Run the VST/AU inside Bidule. Pipe midi over the IAC bus.
or
2. Run QuadraSID inside a vst wrapper in PD - is this possible? (vst~ maybe)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

i've still never seen a working vst~ external for osx. there have been countless discussions about it on the mailing list, and the same answer is inevitably: "it should be simple to compile" ..but so far i don't think anyone has actually done that.

i can't suggest anything better than your first idea. if you don't have an audio routing app, then i'd recommend soundflower from the cycling 74 site. it's free, and works really easily.

then of course there's the option of trying to build a sid in pd itself. it's doable, but probably a bit of work.

thats slightly out of my reach that one is :0 ! One day i guess.

Since writing the first post I got this running in Bidule. Not sure what the latency is but it seems to work fine - sounded pretty tight to me.

I think the quadrasid is based on one of the emulators coded a few years back, and then some. A lot of work went into it....i think my main focus here is too make music heh heh
