I am currently working on a project in which I have to reproduce different vibrations using Pure Data. I would like to save the signals as wav files to process them through matlab (an environment to whch am more familiar). The problem is that when I use the writesf~ function, the produced signal is clipped to -1,1 even if the said signal is not being clippend when played live by the peak meter.

Can someone give me an advice to achieve an acceptable signal output ?

If you use "-bytes 4", writesf~ records 32 bit floating point. The valid range by convention is still -1 to 1, but you can normalize it later. That way you don't have to worry about levels when recording.

Thank you for your quickness of answer, how can I use "-bytes 4" ? how do I add it to the patch ? Oh never mind, I found out how to add it. Thank you very much for your help.
