I want to make some help and test patches with vanilla objects only. Is [output~] part of vanilla?

Is the \[output~\] abstraction part of vanilla Pd?

output~.pd is located in (for me)
/Applications/Pd-extended.app/Contents/Resources/extra/output~.pd
and does not contain any non-vanilla objects. it is just a regular separate script that is called when you wish to have an easier output~ than just dac~.you could easily make your own, even inside your main-test-patch..

Thanks, esaruoho. Now I found it as '/usr/lib/pd-extended/extra/output~.pd' on my computer, so yes I'd better assume the abstraction is not available in vanilla Pd, and encapsulate a similar thing in my help/test patches.

you could simply open output~.pd , select all of it's contents, go to your test-patch, write
[pd outputter]and paste it into the opened window, and be done with it. hope this helps?

That's how I'll do it. Main thing is, vanilla Pd users should not experience the unwelcome surprise of missing abstractions. I try to do help/test patches in vanilla (apart from the home brew external under concern), but often I overlook some Pd-extended objects in the end. The [output~] abstraction is part of so many audio examples, that made me think it might be standard Pd stuff. I had already done a few dozen patches that way.
Thanks again,
Katja
