I'm looking at buying a new windows/Linux machine specifically for PD. Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I have a budget of about £400

I'm mostly using it for GEM patches, anyone know what the minimum specifications to run gem. What works best with GEM ect.

I know nothing about windows or Linux. I've been an Apple user all my life and Im looking to make the switch. Hense I need advice!

In short, I would recommend you a laptop with an ATI video card, so you can install Debian on it and you won't have video drivers issues. If it comes along with windows 7, it's ok, you may resell it without too much loosing in price. I don't know much about trying to install GNU/Linux on machines with win8, but I heard that they are doing the impossible to avoid it.
For sure I recommend Debian GNU/Linux for Pd, though I heard that OSX and Win7 are also very stable.
