Hello guys, i really need help here. I'm new to puredata and i need help in doing this:

1- Two webcams are connected to the PC
2- They track movement
3- If cam1 detects movement it plays a movie clip, if cam2 detects movement it plays movie clip2

Can you guys helping me doing this? I tried to use the movement detector of the tutorials but i dont know how to connect 2 webcams to PD and to track both movement on the cameras and much less playing a movie clip when there is movement in one of the two cams.

Please help me out, im really bad at puredata and i don't understand very well the tutorials.

have a look at pix_video-help.pd in GEM help

you can specify the device which you want to use. I'd assume that would mean if you have 2 webcams attached, then you can open each one with a different instance of [pix_video]

as a side note, i think the reason you are having trouble getting help, is because your request is not specific enough. You need to break it down into individual components. Actually, if you do that, then you might even be able to find the answers for yourself. All the info you're seeking is contained within pd help files, so you just need to learn how to search properly. Of course, if you get really stuck, we are here to help. But you need to take as many steps by yourself as possible.

I open two instances of the tutorial so one controls my laptop webcam and the other instance the external webcam and it works.

What i need now is to add a movement tracker, and then when when the camera tracks movement it plays a movie. Can someone help me? Thanks.

sorry, i don't really know how to use GEM, and maybe someone more cluey will help you, but 'movement tracking' is generally referred to as 'MOTION TRACKING'. If you search this forum or google for 'GEM motion tracking' or something like that, you should find what you need. From memory, i THINK the object you need might be pix_blob

actually, i think you need to find the other help files. Not sure how pd-extended works on your system, but on mine, when i go to 'help', the first option is for 'manuals'. If you click that, and then click 2.image, you'll find info on playing video, and then also tracking.

after that, it's just a case of putting it all together with some sort of threshold detection to trigger the video playing.
