I have device, called "mindwave", created by company Neurosky. It can catch electric signal of your brains and monitor it into program...
I figure out, that its possible to use it on pure data, and found the guy, who made external patch for it:

But I got problem, I cannot find the way, how to install it on Pd-extended. No matter what I try it keeps giving me error that it can't load library, and giving me error: np_mindset: can't open...
I send email to creator, so hope to get any answer to solve this.

If here is anyone, that might know how to make it work, please help me.

I just tried the 1.1 binary for OSX, opened the helpfile, and it loaded fine. Are you using that binary? Maybe you can give a little more info.

OK, I am Windows XP user. What do u mean by tried 1.1 binary? I am not advanced user, so I am not really good on that. I was trying to add this external in to pure data, but it didn't worked. when I open helpfile I get this error: " np_mindset
... couldn't create", so the all thing just not working.
What should I do? Maybe you could provide me a little tutorial about it?

By binary, I mean one that is already compiled (i.e. not source code). In the first link you provide, there is a link to Sourceforge labeled "Binaries and Releases". The "np_mindset 1.1" is the one I tried, because it's the only one that had a Pd binary in it (the others were Max only).

I don't see any Windows binaries being offered there, though, so you might have to compile it yourself. This external uses the flext build system, which I've never used, and I've also never compiled anything for Windows, so I'm afraid I might not be much help with that.

Ok, how could I use it on MAX? Because I get same error on MAX to... Also the binary file that used, is it this one np_mindset.pd_darwin? I could try to use a mac computer so it could work on it? Also how this compiling works? So is this incomplete work? How could I compile it?

The Max one is for OSX, too. If you've never compiled anything before, it can be pretty frustrating (I just spent all day trying to compile an external). And like I said, I don't really have any advice for compiling on Windows or using Flext. Maybe someone else around here would have some advice.

You sound a bit like you need this soon. If you have access to a Mac, you might just be better off using it.

well, I got mac os on Virtual machine, so I will try to run in from there, and see or it works. Thank you very much for help and support. I will try to find some experts that works with pd on windows and could try to compile this file, so I could use it to.
I need to see of this device really can work with pure data...

So people, I am looking now person that have experience in compiling external files in windows OS. I would be really thankful, is someone could help me deal with this problem...

So I tried that binary 1.1 like Maelstorm did, on mac osx, and it worked perfect. But I need to make it work on windows PD or on MAX!

I eventually succeeded in compiling it for Windows/Puredata.

I am working on a project, and I'm using the same device, unfortunately I have the same problem.

I tried this. The object works and it conects to headset, but there is nothing in number boxes.

Maybe I had made a stupid mistake with something?

OK, now I have success,

My first try was on Pd 0.43.1, now I tried it on older 0.42.5 and it works fine.

I am actually having a similar problem. I am trying to get .42.5 working on my box to see if I can program in that version instead of the new one. I think the issue is the new version of PD extended does not include all the flext libraries?* (I think)

I get the object to load, activate the correct COM port and turn the i/o on, but I can not get the open function to work correctly. I know it states that you need to name the correct channel, but the help file lists something that i can not decipher. Is it calling the flext file that has the connection dialogue with the headset? I am also using the USB version neurosky "mind wave". Would it need a different open command?

this is the open command: open /dev/tty.Mindset-DevB

as you can probably tell, I am a newbie. any help is appreciated.
