I am new here and am very intrigued with the possibility of Pd.

I was wondering if anyone has tried feeding a list of frequencies into Pd, and then rounded them to the quarter tone and then converted them to MIDI notes. This would entail using pitch bending - I believe - for the last part, correct?

Any pointers would be very appreciated!

check out [ftom]. No need to round to quarter tones, it gives you midi as a float!

But what if I *want quarter tones?

no pitch bending is needed unless you actually sample something and transpose it. if you're just feeding number data, then as sunji suggested [ftom] 'frequency to midi number) is a good start.

[ftom] will take your frequency and assign it to the corresponding midi number. Even better, it will interpolate between midi numbers and output a decimal.

SO, for example

is output as 62.3695

now all we need is a little rounding and we've sorted it.
