I'm kind of a bloody beginner but want to train my skills with pd. Sadly there is a technical challenge that really gets my goat. Every time I want to create some objects associated to gem, the border of the object stays broken and the console says "...couldn't create". With this problem I am not able to get any visual skills in pd as well as i couldn't finish my homework yet. I'm working with pd 0.42-6 on an Ubuntu 10.04 machine. I tried a few tricks yet. Creating an object with "declare -lib gem" works, but doesn't influence the main problem anyway. Creating "import gem" has no effect.

Can anybody please help me?

hmm, the [gemwin] object seems to work, so it appears that you have some part of the GEM library installed correctly, but any objects with "...can't create" are not installed correctly.

If you're using pd extended; then as painful as it may seem, i think maybe the best solution would be just to re-install pd extended from scratch, being careful to follow all the installation instructions for your system.
