That's a fun granulator/slicer. It works great on speech.
I would make the controls or a helpfile explain a bit more about
how it works. It took me a while to work out what's what and there
are still some controls that are mysterious. Perhaps put some
other messages in [init] that set up the interface board with better
default values too.
Nice to see patches in Miller Vanilla that load first time too.
Thanks for sharing it.
Use the Source.
Thanx for trying it out obi. Like i said it's work in progress (it always is), so i didn't bother to make much of a help system. I'm having some ideas to use it for LaalaDuo. I'll post that one as well when it's sort of usable.
Cheers,
Domien

Hi Domien,
really nice patch and a good idea.
I also appreciate the clean interface, with the original
"space invaders" shape on the lower right (is it?
It makes me tries different kind of samples
to see how they sound, so I think you centered
the objective. Thanks for sharing it.
All the best,
Alberto
yeah i took a while to figure out what does what. but like with all toys. just fiddle with everything until something good comes out.
i'm getting some monged up music from this.
hey domien, did you ever do anything more with this? it works well how it is, but if you have a moment, could i be really nasty and ask you to make a version with clear labels on all the sliders. i'm still not sure what some of them do.
if you don't have time i guess i'll just go thru and find out where all the send/receives lead.
i'll try and use this in my live set next weekend (which i am only 10% prepared for now, and realising i spent far too long playing computer games this week ..aarrghh)
Laala has changed a lot since this first post, I'm currently at version 0.0.8. This version however is completely intertwined with the rest of my other patches, so lots of stuff wouldn't be useful for you without all my other patches. Maybe i'll post the complete collection once, but for now i'll post version 0.0.5.
This version has changed A LOT since v.0.0.1 (although the core remains the same). So i created a small readme with sort of a manual / example which goes through all modules.
Hope you enjoy it. Cheers,
Domien

So hardoff, any news yet?

THIS weekend.
Hey hardoff.
Did a decent gig? Was laala any use? Let us know (or hear?)...

i ended up just djing at the gig on saturday. i am going to play live tomorrow night, so i'll let you know.
i'll try to get a recording too if possible.
arrh,, no recording. it was a real chaotic setup with gameboys and mics and turntables and gabba and 4 other mates....
but we were alternating between a sample of a ping pong ball being dropped played thru laala, and then all the rest of the madness. it was good fun, even if we did get some funny looks from the audience.
i'm gonna use the granular engine of this patch for another project too...you don't mind do you?
anyway...cheers. thanks a lot for posting it. lots of fun.
Sounds like you had a funky good time. A pity we can't hear anything of it, maybe next time
Sure, rip her apart and build something new with it.
Cheers,
D.

Sounds great domien, I've been working on a sample-based instrument for a while now and based on how you've set yours up I'm going to be making some changes to mine, thanks!
I know this is from years ago, but I am trying to put some impossibly lush reverb into a patch right now, and laala is the only place I have heard what I want. I can't find the guts, though. Anyone have and insight on how the reverb (I think it's labelled "delay" in the patch, but it sounds like reverb to me) is implemented in here?
There's an abstraction called 8tapPdelay~.pd, this is used 2 times (in the latest version of the patch). The guts of laala are in the [pd positionSampler1] subpatch. In there at the bottom there's a subpatch called [pd mixer&output] which contains also a subpatch [pd delay].
Have fun with it,
D.

Thank you. I actually found it a few hours ago, but I have been too busy playing with it to let you know that I found it.
Thank you a bunch.
