I'm a beginnger, and I have juste downloaded the initiation tutorials by Raphael Isdant. It seems I can't load a library to open the patches. Does anyone have a clue about this ?

I get the following message :

/Applications/Pd-extended.app/Contents/Resources/extra/pdp/pdp.pd_darwin: dlopen(/Applications/Pd-extended.app/Contents/Resources/extra/pdp/pdp.pd_darwin, 10): Library not loaded: /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib

pdp: can't load library

Precision : I'm currently using my former popwerbook – the other one is being fixed–, which is running with OS X 4.11

You need to install X11 for the graphics libraries in Pd-extended. You can get the most recent version here:

http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki

But they don't make binaries for 10.4, so if you want the most recent version, you have to do it through MacPorts.

IIRC, I think there is a version of X11 included on the OSX 10.4 installation disc. You might be able to use that.

Thanks a lot ! I found a means to download X11 from a mirror via X.org. I'm a little confused though, since there are a great number of apps, libraries and so on. I selected the most recent release, X11RT.6, on ftp://ftp.freedesktop.org/pub/xorg/. I really not familiar to development issues, so I'm a little lost... Could you tell me which file or folder I should select ?

I don't know, I'm on Leopard. I would think the MacPorts approach would be the easiest way to get the most recent version for Tiger.

If you Google "x11 tiger install" or something, you should be able to find copies of the x11 files from Tiger's installation disk. They won't be the most recent version, but they might still work.
