im currently working on a patch that will eventually become a beat machine based on FM synthesis and im trying to include knobs and faders but they dont seem to select numbers so smoothly, like if i want to select the frequency of the carrier it goes 623,657,690... etc

is there a way to smooth the knobs and sliders so it goes 600,601,602?
i tried to use [line] but that didnt seem to work either... i guess i was using it wrong, any help will be greatly apreciatted.

it seems the longer you make the sliders the less the output jumps, but if you need a large range of numbers it is still a problem - here is one way around it - use pd 123's [bb_sync2gui] abstraction (attached) - do your rough tuning with the slider and your fine tuning with the number box. (I'll be posting a fancy knob gui soon...)

Use [line~], not [line], to smooth audio rate parameters like frequency. Or do you mean you just want the sliders to move in smaller increments? You can hold shift and drag to do that (doesn't work with [knob], though).

yup i meant i want the sliders to move in smaller increments preferably increments of 1 or even smaller increments with floats without having to hold shift.
i was thinking in the future if i use it with a midi control remote it wouldnt be efficient to take the time to hold shift playing live.

I tried to make the sliders bigger but it seems i need a 1000 long slider to make it jump one by one and that just doesnt look good.
Also the abstraction attached Simon2 works fine but the point of using a slider in the patch is to not have number boxes so that didnt work for me either, thanks anyway i apreciatte the input.

20 to 20,000 for the oscillators and 0 to 1 for the volume

well... if you don't want steps you can't use a log scale... which means you have to scroll 19980 pixel to get from 20 to 20000... well... it is possible....
maybe you want to split it into 2 number boxes... [0-200]*100+[0-99] or similar..... ._.
