while using my wiimote (wiilib objects) to control a patch, after a while the patch seems to continue to work properly (other applications receiving midi ctrlchange messages from pd), but the windows stop refreshing and pd doesn't respond anymore (even if I disconnect my wiimote to try to unlock the situation).
Any idea ?

This might have something to do with it...
I sometimes use a wiimote with the mrpeach objects - any number boxes that are connected to the accelerometers will spit out numbers so fast that pd eventually freezes - the solution is to disconnect number boxes, or put them in subpatches.

Or try filtering out some of the data going into the number boxes so it's not trying to update the gui with every value. You can use [speedlim] for this.

I have to say that not a single number box is involved.
The only gui changes triggered by my wiimote is changing the color of [knob]s (there's a serie of 16 knobs, only one is "lit" in orange at a time indicating wich preset is selected). But of course I'll check what happens without these gui changes ...

Before the last update of this patch there were no [knob]s but [toggles] to show which preset is "active", and it went all right.

[speedlim] works great for filtering the the OSC data from the accelerometer.

I do confirm : simply removing the [knob] color changing (16 in one shot) solved the problem.

I introduced the [speedlim] object on the acceleration part anyway (after the test), as a precaution measure.

Just to clarify, nau, I think you really only need [speedlim] for the data going into the gui elements, because they can bog things down if they need to update to quickly/often. I don't think the accelerometers necessarily need it for the processing portion of the patch (and I have a feeling the accelerometers aren't updating the color of the [knob]s). Depending on what you're doing, of course.

As for the [knob]s, maybe you could find a way to use [change] to filter out redundant messages so that only the ones that turn on and off get the color message. That way, it will really only be two in one shot.

The accelerometers did indeed "trig" a pair of [toggle]s, as the wiimote is attached to my left arm (I play violin) and it detects whether I play in a "normal" position or "bent towards the ground" to exhibit two different behaviours within the patch. So in this "non-realtime-sensible" action the [speedlim] seems a good measure to me.

Awesome. The [change] works effectively ; the [knob]s can now change colors and the "freezing" doesn't occur anymore. Cheers !
