hi empty forum,
first of all, good to have sth like this although the mailinglist is always very supportive. cheers everybody. but.................................
let´s see what this one does.
maybe someone could help me with this one:
i am trying to have a video/image/live cam feed in the background of a gem-space and geos in front of it. i´d like the geos to be see-through "transparent" to the background video.
i know that the render [gemhead x] needs to be set lower on the video to do so. doesn´t work -> pd/gem crashes. i tried gem 0.87, gem0.88pre, gem0.87+cvs -all the same problems.
is this just a "bug" and undoable at the moment or am i doing sth completely wrong?
any suggestions or similar experiences?
thanks, flo

welcome!
i have make some try with this, it works with me, on this config:
-gem 0.88pre
-win 2k
-p3 866 mhz
-onbaord intel 3d chipset
have a try with this [url=http://nekodata.free.fr/meuf.zip ]http://nekodata.free.fr/meuf.zip
i have no crash with these, but i encounters crash with invalid video file (not supported codec, or loading mpg on windows version) -
oh i have noticed that avi encoded in indeo 5.10 crash my pd/gem.
You could have very good result with the midivid codec, also you need all frames being keyframe if you want fast scrubbing in video file.
here is the midivid link http://www.midivid.com/codec/download.html -
hey cheers,
although i just remembered why i did not use [pix_film} but rather [pix_movie} in first place. i found that the resolution/colourdepth/etc with [pix_film} was horrible. so using [pix_movie] would make a good image, but crash.
does anyone have a suggestion how to get high quality image with [pix_film]?
cu, flo
btw: the use of crappy encoding compression is not the problem. the video is excellent on other video-players.
