Hello Diplopito,
I don't think you'll have an explosion or any such thing~:o)
From my limited experience, I think this has to do with the fact that Pd might suddenly shut down,.. which it does every now and again in any case with silly ole Win XP.
Also, when you drop-down your patch, and then bring it up again, you might find everything in disarray, and pretty much non-responsive to mouse-clicks,.. as has happened with me *once* (in a once in 2 years performance of course ~ LoL).
Perhaps it might be wise to make sure that no unsaved files are open in other softwares when you do this.
Good luck, and keep well ~ Shankar
thank you ShankarBaba.
I would left winXP and start learning linux. seems like pd running under linux better than under winxp. Debian GNU/Linux, Red Hat, Fedora, Mandriva, SuSE, Gentoo, Ubuntu. Which one to choose?
hi
if you want to check out GNU/Linux try pure:dyne from goto10.org.
its a live cd. You just download a cdimage. burn it and youre ready to go.

I've got my nanokontrol working fine on winxp. You always get that warning when creating a midi object on xp, but it never caused pd to behave strange. Although i must add i've been struggling to get a behringer bcr2000 to work (it works under 0.38.4 but not under 0.40.3).

this warning only shows up in Pd-extended.
Use the latest Pd-vanilla for the most updated Pd on XP.
cause Millers bug-fixes eventually makes it into Pd-extended.
thanx guys
i cant understand how to install pd vanilla..
just download from http://crca.ucsd.edu/~msp/software.html.
unzip to a location of your choice
run /pd/bin/pd.exe or pd.com
I use korg's nanokontrol and it doesn't crash my pd-extended 0.43.4 (on windows 7)
but when I use many knobs and sliders very fast for about an hour or so my controler sometimes fraks out (ex. one knob sends signal like 2 knobs and 1 slider, buttons are reverted - 127 is 0 and 0 is 127 etc.)
do you think is a matter of pd-extended and I should use vanilla instead?
and if so does everything in vanilla (~ objects and gem objects) work the same way as in pd-extended?
Hello there !
