Hello, I am having some issues with my interactive installation patch. I am using a blob tracker I built in Pure Data as my input data (x and y coordinates), and I want to use it to control Ableton Live specifically:
triggering specific audio samples
changing the tempo (bpm) ( I wanted to do this in Live if possible due to their tempo-warp)
and controlling a VST plugin

I think both programs can operate on Open Sound Control and communicate to eachother but I'm not exactly sure how to set it up? Has anyone done this before?

I work specifically with Ableton and Pure Data, and I just started using OSC from my Ipod to control Pd and Ableton. the easiest way I have found is to use [noteout] or [ctlout] send it to an IAC bus (if on Mac) and set midi input in Ableton to that particlualr IAC bus. using simple math operations its easy to make controller data from 0-127 and midi notes can be specifically defined.

It's really easy to trigger samples this way with [noteout](specify number and channel in the arguments). I am not sure about real time tempo change, but you can define tempo changes in clips in Live, so thats one way to go about it. I'm sure [ctlout] can help with the vst issue.
