This one seems simple but I have had no luck with it as of yet. How do you go about rendering output to a file from within PureData on windows? On linux I always used Jack but have found no comparable solution on windows. I have tried Jack for Windows (http://www.grame.fr/~letz/jackdmp.html) and ReaRoute for Reaper (http://www.reaper.fm/) with no luck at all. Both seem like they would be good solutions but Reaper receives no sound when I try to do it through PureData. I am using the latest stable build of PD-Extended and the most recent version of Reaper.

I have searched around and not found anything. I am sure that there is a very obvious solution I am missing.

I'm not too sure about how to route audio from pd to reaper, but you can use the [writesf~] object to write audiofiles from within pd.

Looked it up in PDPedia and it Sounds like what I need, thanks! I was hoping to skip the middle man of writing the files to disk and then importing them into reaper but it sounds like this will get the job done well enough.

for a project i worked on, virtual audio cable was a viable solution. i think it cost $50 or something though.

Tried using 4 [writesf~] to record 4 separate wav files to import simultaneously. It did record the 4 wav files but I got a rhythmic clicking in the outputted files. The clicking did not seem to be related to what was currently occurring in the file (didn't sync up to the waveform or anything). The computer is fast enough that it shouldn't have trouble writing 4 files at once. Is this a limitation of [writesf~]? The documentation doesn't suggest anything against using it multiple times. Anyone experience the same problem?

I sometimes use 5 or 6 of them simultaneously without a problem... But that's probably not of any help for you...

Are you doing it on windows? It does help to know that it is supposed to work that way, I just need to figure out why my machine doesn't like it.

yes,i'm on winxp, pd extended 0.40.3.

Doh! the clicking wasn't in the wavs. It was coming from the ASIO4ALL driver. Oh the joys of redoing your audio setup.
