So, I am abandoning running ableton through Pd becuase I can't get the sudio not to skip (if anyone has a solution to this let me know). I am instead going to put the samples into arrays. So how do I get them to loop?

Take a look through the tutorials included with PD, theres a few called "looping sampler"
with a bit more work you could set up several instances of this and get them all synced.

Because i'm nice, heres the example i was talking about.

Unpitched looping can be done with [tabplay~] (the right outlet bangs when playing is done => reconnect via a [spigot]). Otherwise there's plenty of options with [tabread4~] in combination with [metro]/[line~] or a [phasor~]/[*~ samplelength]. And that's just a few of the options.

and have a look through this forum for 'sample looper', 'beat slicer' etc.... there have been lots of patches posted here to do these things.
